Upcoming Classes

Our home base for our larger group classes is primarily in Webster Groves at The Monday Club. However, for the convenience of our students we offer classes at a variety of facilities.  Please check carefully to assure the location of the class you register for.  Here is a list of the venues:

The Monday Club, 37 South Maple Ave. ( Webster Groves )  Map and Driving Directions note: the facility looks like a house from the front but it is quite large and hosts a 2500 sq foot wood dance floor that is one of the best in the city!

The Technique Studio, Conveniently located near Lindberg/Dorsett our technique studio is in a residential neighborhood and is more intimate (450 sqft), has mirrors as well as a lovely bamboo floor and is located at 10247 Thorpe Avenue. 63114  (corner of Thorpe and Krem - enter the driveway off Krem for studio entrance)  Come early and check out the new walking garden.  This studio has great energy and is a wonderful place to learn!

Sizzling Summer Tango!

These summer classes are a great way to learn this sensual and elegant dance we call tango. 
We hope you can join us as it is a lot of fun and the people are interesting and diverse.  However, consider yourself warned it is also addicting!  You do not need a partner for these classes but you do need a sense of humor and desire to meet new people and learn the art of communication through dance.

Cost:  $120 pp for Tango 102 or Tango Intermediate.  Take Close Embrace for $100.  When taking Close Embrace in conjunction with the 102 or Intermediate for just $180pp for both classes.

Missed Class Policy: You are allowed two make up lessons that may be taken within during the eight week class you registered for when available.  Make up lessons do not carry over.  The make up schedule is as follows:

101, 102, 103 and Close Embrace- Make up in the Technique Class
Intermediate - Make up in the 100 series or Close Embrace

 There are no make ups for the Close Embrace if you are taking the special and have enrolled at a reduced rate. The only requirement to make up class is that you take it within the 8 week time frame of your regularly scheduled class and that you inform us of the time you plan to do your make up.

 Salsa with Style !!!
levels 1 & 2

These classes covers the fundamental steps danced in the nightclubs today. The core material and variations are covered in depth along with syncopations that can be danced with a partner or solo. A strong emphasis is placed on how to be a flexible leader and follower.  We have the salsa 1 in two sections.  We teach a Club Salsa 1A and a club Salsa 1B.  You do not have to take Club 1A first.

This is a dance class designed to help you understand how to dance with a partner, but also teaching you how to move your body in a way that looks good. Basics include: Passes left and right, cumbia variations, cross body leads and right passes with and without turns and the game of trading turns.  

The Club Salsa 2 goes further into the world of dance with spins, wraps, side by side moves and more stylish ways to move your body.  We will help you to find you own way to move so that you look great but also feel great to your partner.

Details: If you miss a class we invite you to make it up in another salsa class if one is available within the month you are registered.  If there are no other equivalent or lower level salsa classes being offered at the time then there will be no make ups offered.  There are no refunds or credits given after the first day of class.
 

Swing Fundamentals Part ll
(4 week session)

Ready for some fun? Come learn some of the cool and timeless dance of swing.     It's all about individual expression and improvisation but you have to start with the basics, right?

These classes will focus on Jazz movement and fundamentals of partner dancing and begin with easy 6 and 8 count patterns to get the students on the floor as quickly as possible. No partner required.

When: July 2nd to the 23rd

Belly Dancing

Great Fun and Great Exercise!

Theses new classes will have you moving like you never thought you could.  They are so much fun it will not even feel like exercise but I can tell you from personal experience it definitely is!  Diana is a great teacher and this is a great thing to do with the girls!  So join the party or bring your own.  See you all in class!!!

Convergence now offers Yoga!

Yoga is the ancient practice of linking mind, body and spirit to find balance in all aspects of life. Yoga reduces stress and tension , strengthens muscles and the immune system, realigns the entire body for better posture, improves circulation and digestion, teaches correct breathing and enhances concentration and creativity.
Yoga is ideal for students of dance who simply wish to explore the possibility of becoming more aware of themselves.
This 75 min class is for students of all levels. Please bring your own yoga mat and a firm blanket.

Advanced Intermediate Argentine Tango Classes!

Our Thursday night tango classes are for our most advanced tango dancers.  They are combinations of intermediate material put together in clever and complex ways.  These classes are by invitation only and require at least two years of tango training in addition to permission of the instructor.  We feel strongly that to attempt the difficult and not injure yourself or your partner requires a very solid understanding and ability to execute your basics as well as your intermediate tango material.  We look forward to inviting you to this class and until then keep up the good work!

         Tango Technique
This class develops the techniques of how to make tango look like tango with many independent excersizes so that you can practice at home without a partner.  To be a good partner it is just as important to develop your own dancing as it is to develop the partnering and we feel this class gives you the opportunity to do this.  This is a supplemental class to your regular class.  It can not replace your regular classes.  It is open to all students taking tango in St Louis!
