Adult Ballet-Int/Adv

This class is perfect for adults who have had previous dance training and/or experience in ballet and want to focus on developing artistry, musicality, and épaulement. Each class moves at a quick pace, offering challenging combinations at both the barre and in the center, while maintaining focus on strong ballet technique.  An emphasis on proper body alignment will be a key point of focus, in addition to proper hip rotation, flexibility, and postural placement. Pre-registration is required for this workshop as this is a series of classes, not single drop-in classes. Consistent attendance is important, as each class will build upon the previous concepts studied.

Beginning Tango: Molinetas

January 7th – February 25th

Mondays: 8:00 – 8:55pm

Instructors: Roxanne and Robert

Our beginning series classes are all the basics (plus some of the fun and fancy) broken up into three parts. Starting with this class or the Ochos series is ideal. This section starts with developing clear and concise leads and follows, your tango walk, amagues, and molinetas (turns/ grapevines). Then we play with the ideas of Barridas (drags), Paradas (stops), and pivoting and balancing techniques.  Come get tangled up with us!

  • It is inadvisable to start in Beginning Tango: Crossed System. The Molinetas, and Ochos are much easier and the movements more recognizable. The three classes combine and help develop a strong foundation where you can choose your path of intermediate skills.

Intro to Ballroom

No current classes. Pleas call for more information

Description: No matter what reason you are learning for, this is the class for you! We do a sampling of 3 dances over 6 weeks.  These dances should get you smoothly through any social dance situation. It will take you from the crowded dance floor with basic rhumba to the expansive ballroom at the Casa Loma Ballroom. The dances we generally begin with are Foxtrot, Swing, and Rumba. If there is a dance you just have to learn, tell the instructor and we will do our best to incorporate it!

The classes are fun and we try to make it as easy and painless as possible for those of you who might be a bit reluctant, we promise!

(You do not need a partner for class but we do gender balance the class and frequently the students taking this class are not inclined to rotate partners so be prepared that you might end up dancing with the same person for the series if no one is changing partners and we have arranged a partner for you.)
When: Tuesdays from 8pm to 9pm
Instructors: David Scherer
Where: Convergence Dance & Body Center (location information)
