For the past two decades, Convergence Dance and Body Center has been teaching private and group Salsa dance lessons and helping to develop some of the best salsa dancers in St. Louis. This exceptional program focuses on teaching basic concepts, connection, technique and how to improvise. Whether you choose to study at your own pace with a private lesson program, as a community in a group setting or a combination of the two, we will custom tailor a program just for you. We offer beginning and advanced salsa and Bachata classes, Salsa Rueda and Rueda: Beyond the Basics. This 10 pack of private lessons is a great way to get prepared for an event or to just jet some solid moves under your belt. It will help you gain confidence and look great in whatever style you choose to focus on. This is 10 one on one 50 minute lessons. The cost is the same whether you take as a single (the teacher partners you) or as a couple. Come on to the floor, it is so much fun you will wish you started sooner!
GROUP CLASS. Salsa with style for the newly interested! This salsa class covers all the basics in a fun and friendly environment where you will learn how the dance is done while laughing along the way! This class covers the following: basics forward and back, right turns, combs, passes to the right, cross body leads and stop and go turns. We also teach you some Bachata as well, as it is a very popular dance at the clubs! All classes are lead/follow balanced and are processed in the order they are received.
Group Class: These classes are the next step on your tour of the Salsa world! We work on basic and more advanced spins while taking the fundamentals and making them seem more complex. Not to worry, Club Salsa 101 will have prepared you for these new twists an turns! This will make your salsa jump to an entirely new level and is tons of fun. This class is taught in two- eight week parts (202 & 203) that are alternated in our curriculum, and can be taken in any order. Class registration is open. Prerequisite for this class is Club Salsa 101 or permission of instructor.
This more advanced class is for the experienced salsa dancer who knows all the fundamental and intermediate figures of salsa. This class will focus on musicality and improving your techniques for spins, arm styling and body movement. This class assumes that you can dance advanced material on time to music at 105 beats per minute. We will be creating figures that eliminate basics and help the dancers to develop their own style. Prerequisite for this class is Club Salsa 101, 200 series, 300 series and permission of instructor.
This is a basic 8 week class for people with some regular salsa experience to come and learn a bit more of a Cuban style of movement in this fun style of salsa. This is a group dance, although the moves can be done in regular salsa as well. It is fast, non stop and tons of fun! This class is not for someone that has never danced salsa before, but will really add to your salsa on top of being a great workout! Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have. Pre-requisites are at least 8 weeks of salsa experience for a better learning experience.
This is continuing 8 week class for people with casino salsa experience to come to further explore the Cuban style of movement in this fun style of salsa. This is a group dance, although the moves can be done in regular salsa as well. It is fast, non stop and tons of fun! This class is not for someone that has never danced salsa salsa de casino before, but will really add to your salsa on top of being a great workout! GROUP CLASS. These classes are specifically for the performance team. Those interested in knowing more about it would need to have a good level of Cuban salsa and would need to bring a partner that they would be dancing with in class.
Private lesson: cost is the same for a single or couple. The lesson is 50 minutes. Please note that our teachers only get paid when you come to dance. To avoid being charged for canceling, please give us 24 hours notice, otherwise you will be charged for the lesson.

GROUP CLASS. Bachata 100 with style for those who are wanting to focus on this beautiful and sensual Latin dance but are looking for more. This class is 100% Bachata! This Bachata class covers the basics and beyond variations in a fun and friendly environment! This class covers the following: variations on the forward and back basic, turns with unusual arm variations, combs into ducks, as well as moves that change the framework you are used to. This is a very popular dance at the clubs so come on out and learn some new moves to compliment your current Bachata dance! All classes are lead/follow balanced and are processed in the order they are received.
This is an 8 week 200 level group classon how to create more dynamics in your Bachata dancing. This class will focus on setups (using Bachata 100 material) that allows the dancers to add some of their own musicality and more striking movements. Variations in timing and body positioning will also be explored. Pre requisite is at least 8 weeks of Bachata 100 and some social dancing experience. We came here because we didn't know anything about any salsa classes or studios. In hindsight, we got so lucky we ended up here. What we thought would be just Salsa 1 ended up as Salsa 2A and Salsa 2B, then Bachata. We are hooked because these folks make dancing fun and easy for anyone. Super unfortunate but I ended up busting my knee and went to Carter, the Chiropractor, for therapy. So glad he was there because I'm back to my old self again.
Convergence is by far the best dance studio I've ever been to! I have been going for about three years now and I still learn so many new things each week! There are a wide array of classes, of which I have taken salsa and tango (both spectacular). Every instructor is helpful and extremely knowledgeable about every dance style taught there! The classes also range from beginner level to advanced, so there is something for everyone! I highly recommend this studio for anyone looking to learn new dances and also for more experienced dancers who want to learn even more!
I'm not sure I've ever actually expressed to you what a big deal it is for me to now feel comfortable at a social dance. I was almost pathologically shy as a teenager and not knowing how to dance, or how to ask for a dance without being gleefully rejected, was one of the ongoing themes of my youth. This past year it has been *profoundly* gratifying to put some of those old ghosts to rest, and have a hell of a good time in the process. Thanks. I mean it.
